DINECHEF

DineChef, as discussed earlier, is a Kitchen Display System. When the orders are taken in the POS/DineFly or online delivery orders reach the system, it has to be sent to the kitchen for preparations of the items of the orders.

Some of the Restaurants use the printer for this where the ordered items are printed in the kitchen for Chef to start working on them. But it is simpler to use the Display system instead of a printer for various reasons.

  • The view of orders, items, and quantity ordered become easier.

  • The status can be updated in real-time and it gets easier to identify the status of the item under preparation.

  • DineChef KDS also has a feature where it shows the combined quantity of any item that was ordered from all the orders ordered between a certain period of time, which makes it easier for the chef preparing the item to view the combined amount of plates of a particular item he has to work on. This saves the chef a lot of time.

This document will help us understand how the orders will be displayed in the DineChef and how it makes it easier for the Chef in the Kitchen.

ORDER DISPLAY

When the order is placed, let us take an example of an order taken on the table  T1.

STEP 1: When the order is taken in the POS and the order page is closed, the order gets submitted to the Kitchen. In the POS it is shown as "Submitted".

STEP 2: When the order gets submitted, The DineChef in the Kitchen rings with the notification of the new order. The image shows the UI of the DineChef with Ticket being Displayed.

The ticket has the following details.

  • Ticket Number

  • Time passed since the order was placed

  • Date and Time of the order

  • Order type, whether it is a Restaurant order/take away order/ online order

  • Table Number

  • Order Number

  • Items

  • Quantity

  • Size

Note:

  • The background color of the ticket can be changed according to the requirement.

  • It can also be defined to change after a certain amount of time to help the chef visually understand that the order has passed that amount of time since it got ordered.

STEP 2: When the item is prepared, the item can be ticked in the space next to it. Then the item is marked as PREPARED in the POS as shown below.

STEP 3: Finally when all the items are prepared, then the Chef can mark the Ticket in the button at the top right corner of the ticket as shown in the picture then the ticket will be marked as COMPLETED in the kitchen.

STEP 4: The completed Tickets will be marked as following.

STEP 4: All the completed orders can be view by clicking on the Completed order button in the DineChef Home Page, and selecting the date, department and any other details asked.

IMPORTANT FEATURE

When there are multiple orders with similar items placed then the summary of all the orders can visible so that it will be easier for the chef to see the number of a particular item that must be prepared. It becomes easier as the chef does not have to view each ticket individually and add manually and start preparing.

This can be viewed by clicking the summary button at the bottom left corner of the DineChef home page.

The following example shows 4 orders placed around some time with little time difference and has some items repeated in different orders.

We can see, for example, GREEK SALATA is being ordered in ticket 686 and 687. Also, some other items like KUBOOS, HAWAWSHI FALAFEL. The summary is shown below.
