Menu Items are the final menu items that are sold in the restaurant as a dish or on the online platforms. This document will help us understand how to create items on the DineConnect.
Create Item
STEP 1: Go to CONNECT --> MENU --> MENU ITEMS. Here the list of all the existing items is shown, they can be filtered with respect to a category, type, or location.
STEP 2: To create a new item, click on CREATE MENU ITEM, the following page opens up, fill in all the details.
GENERAL - To add the general details of the item.
Category - To associate the category with the item.
Code - Item Code
Name - Item name
Alias Name - Alternative name. You can add a name in a different language if required.
Product Type - Add the product type as MenuItem or Combo.
Tag - Add an item tag. The group can be created on the same page.
Sales Transaction - Select the required sales transaction created.
Description - Item description
Food Type - Add food-type as veg, non-veg, or eggetarian.
Force Quantity - Quantity will be fixed
Force Price - If this is ticked it does not allow editing the price of the item.
Restrict Promotion - Restricts the application of any type of promotion on the item.
No Tax - No tax applied
PORTIONS - To add different portions to the item.
If the item has to be sold with different portions the portions can be created here, for example, full plate or half plate.
Name - Add the portion name. Ex. Half/Full.
Multiplier - Select the multiplier
Barcode - Barcode
Price - Portion price
SCHEDULES - This is to schedule the visibility of the item.
The item can be scheduled to be visible at the required time so that customers can order only during that time.
Select the time from the time slots, select the day from the week.
UP SELLING ITEMS - This is to add the upselling items to this item.
To recommend the customers another item when ordering this item, you can add the details of that item in the upselling item list.
Add price, quantity.
You can tick auto-add if the item has to be added by default. An example of the usage of this can be auto-add raita when biriyani is ordered.
UPSELLING COMBOS - To add an upselling combo item to the main item.
This can be added to upsell a combo item.
Add the name and price of the combo item.
BARCODE - This is to insert a barcode.
Add the barcode information of the item. It is mostly used for the packed items.
DESCRIPTION - This field allows us to add a short description describing the item. This can be done in different languages.
To add an additional description to the item, could also be in a different language.
Select the language, add the description.
This can also be done using an excel sheet.
LOCATION PRICES - To add different prices on the location level.
To add different prices for the different locations this option can be used.
Select location, add location level price.
TAX - To add the tax to the item.
Add tax that has to be added to the item here, you can even edit the value. The image shows the different taxes applied to an item.
COMBO - When the Product Type is selected as Combo, you will be able to see This Combo Option as shown in the below picture.
This page will open when we go to the Combo page, here we can create combos. To do this follow the steps mentioned next.
Click on Create Combo Group, this pop-up appears. Add a name, sort order, minimum and maximum selectable for this group.
Now, the combo group is created, we need to items to this combo group. For this, click on the ADD button.
Add the item, we can select the item, quantity sort order, add the price if required (usually the price is defined on the whole item level so the price on this combo item level can be skipped). Then SAVE the item.
You can see the item added. Similarly, add the required combo groups and items and Save.
URBAN PIPER - To add the details for urban piper integration, which allows integration with the different aggregator partners.
Here you can add the special tags to the item which have special offers on aggregator platforms. Example: Swiggy POP.
STEP 3: To edit or delete existing items click on the respective button under ACTION.
NOTE: The items can be created in bulk using an excel sheet also. Follow the below-mentioned steps.
Click on the IMPORT button, download a template.
Create an excel sheet with all the necessary information mentioned in the template.
Upload the excel sheet.
